In recent times, the masculine world has been under a lot of ‘attack’, some rightly so, and some we’re simply misguided missiles.

We are in a world where many expect so much from the man child but give so little. This is not a post about what to teach a male child, but allow me mention that much more than teaching a child to “be a man”, let’s teach that child to be human. You can’t go wrong with that.

That said, I have put together 5 key prayers that I believe everyone should pray for either the men in their lives like your father, husband, brother, friend, son, nephew or those AROUND your life, like your landlord, your neighbor and his son, the guy that repairs your shoes or even your plumber.

Please if you can, call them by name and pray fervently with this scriptures.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.  Deuteronomy 6:5

And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
Mark 7:20-23

Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31.

When a man’s heart is set on God, it is easy for many things to be in place. That is an anchor that everything will be held on.

A man without a heart for Christ is a disaster waiting to happen.

“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

Bad habits have been  a major bane of men through time.

Praying that the men in your lives will be given the capacity to cultivate wholesome habits is a prayer not to ignore.

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.  James 1:19-20

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. –Colossians 3:8, 12-13

Be it anger, frustration, weariness or simply being overwhelmed can set a man in a roller coaster.

Though many men would rather put up a stoic appearance, the truth is behind that rock solid facade is a man needing help.

Help him by praying for him.

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
1Corinthians 10:14

Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away.
James 1:14

Every man will get tempted at one time or the other, from sexual temptations to money temptations or pride, temptations will come, praying ahead for men would help them not just identify the way of escape God provides but also take it.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1Corinthians 6:19-20

I have hidden your word in my heart,  that I might not sin against you
Psalm 119:11

Drink water from your own well— share your love only with your wife, Why spill the water of your springs in the streets, having sex with just anyone?
Proverbs 5:15-16

Sexual sins has stolen the lives of many men, old and young. Sexual sins have crumbled marriages, broken relationships and probably even caused a national war.

It is key that we pray specifically against sexual sins for the men in our lives, that the word of God will dwell richly in them and they will have the discipline of heart to yield to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

A diligent and hard-working hand.

Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
Romans 12:11

Who needs a man that is Lazy?
No one!
Pray for diligence and a heart that values proper and legit work for the men in your lives.

These five (or six) prayer focus are not exhaustive, but it is a good place to start.

If you were to add any, which will you add?
