Do you know your mirror lies?
I was on the road somewhere i cant remember right now when that dropped in my heart. “Do you know your mirror lies?”
I started going through all the different quotes and sayings I have heard from teachers and preachers about a mirror always showing you exactly what you look like and suddenly I realized that it was either a LIE or a misconception.
MIRRORS DON’T SHOW YOU YOU
THEY SHOW YOU WHAT YOU WANT YOU TO SEE
What exactly do I mean, the last time I checked I was (and am) a guy and if I stand before a mirror right now, it will show me exactly that. So, I walk into my sister’s closet and dress myself up in her gown, I go ahead to call another sister that is a #MUA, and she makes me up with all the blushes and eyebrow ‘sketches’ and all.
When I eventually stand before the mirror, what do you think I’ll see? Your guess is as good as mine-a girl! Also imagine with me, that as a Yoruba man that I am, I decide to dress up like an Urhobo man, if I stand before the mirror, the mirror shows me as an Urhobo which really I am not. I don’t even know a word in Urhobo except maybe the name for God.
So, I discover that the mirror only gives to you what you want it to show to you, at least in that it tells you the truth. It shows you what you want to see.
Why am I exposing the mirror’s secret? I’ll tell you in the next post titled “Your Mirror Lies: So?”
You don’t want to miss it, especially if you love your mirror.
I’ll see you tomorrow.
PS: Its 12days to WORLD VIRGINITY DAY!
